Two Children on Bench Reading Bronze Statue captures the quiet pleasure of discovering a story together. A girl holds an open book while a boy leans close, his arm resting around her shoulders. Their lowered eyes, relaxed poses and shared attention make the scene feel familiar: two kids, one book and a few unhurried moments in a world of their own. The ornate bronze bench frames the figures with curved arms and decorative leafwork, giving the sculpture a graceful presence from the front, side or garden path.

This is one of F&R Bronze's most popular children's sculptures. We have supplied this piece to schools, libraries and cities for their parks, where its reading theme connects naturally with the people who gather there. At approximately 36 inches high, 44 inches long and 32 inches deep, and weighing about 300 pounds, the complete bronze composition has the substance for a permanent landscape installation while retaining the approachable scale of seated children.

A Reading Sculpture for Schools and Libraries

Outside a library, these children reading on a bench offer a welcoming introduction to the stories waiting inside. Near a children's entrance, in a reading garden or beside a courtyard path, the sculpture gives families a recognizable place to meet and pause. The shared book makes literacy visible without needing a slogan, and the affectionate pose celebrates learning as something children can enjoy together.

For elementary schools, educational campuses and learning centers, this bronze reading statue can complement an outdoor classroom, a landscaped entrance or a quiet garden. It is also a thoughtful choice for a school gift, a library donor project or a tribute to a teacher or librarian. A separately arranged dedication plaque can explain the occasion while leaving the children and their book at the center of the setting.

City Parks, Public Spaces and Private Gardens

A public art project works best when people can connect with its subject. Two kids reading together is a scene visitors of many ages recognize, whether it recalls a sibling, a school friend or a favorite childhood book. In a city park, community garden or civic courtyard, this children's bronze bench sculpture creates a distinctive focal point that feels personal and welcoming.

For residential landscapes, place the reading children beside a garden walk, beneath an arbor or in a sheltered courtyard where the modeled hands, clothing and bench ornament can be appreciated at close range. Flowers and low planting can frame the bronze without hiding its lower details. The same composition can bring a sense of warmth and continuity to an estate garden or a family gathering area.

Figure Placement and Hand-Finished Patina

The children can be arranged in the center of the bench or toward one side. A side arrangement leaves a small amount of open seat beside them. Please call us before ordering to confirm your preferred arrangement and discuss the available sitting space for your installation.

The multicolor acid patina combines warm bronze tones with contrasting color on the clothing and decorative bench details. Green and turquoise accents give the sculpted folds and leafwork definition, while darker shading emphasizes the hair, shoes and recessed ornament. An all-traditional bronze brown patina offers a quieter, more unified appearance, especially against stone, brick or formal planting.

Each finish is applied and refined by hand, so subtle differences in color and shading are part of the individual bronze. We make every effort to keep the multicolor finish available. Custom traditional bronze brown generally requires 4 to 8 weeks; contact us to confirm the finish and timing for your piece.

Lost Wax Casting and Craftsmanship

This Max Turner design is handmade in bronze using the traditional lost wax casting process. Individual sections are cast, joined and carefully finished to preserve the children's expressions, the open book and the bench's ornamental detail. When production is required, the process typically takes 30 to 60 days. Proper cleaning and care help preserve the finish so this heirloom-quality bronze sculpture can be enjoyed for generations indoors or outdoors.
