Venus of Melos
This bronze statue is handmade and cast in the traditional Lost Wax Casting Process. This insures a quality bronze sculpture that may be passed down from generation to generation. The lady is said to be the famous Greek Goddess Aphrodite (Roman Venus) who is the goddess of love and beauty. This statue was found in this condition in 1820 by a peasant named Yorgos in an underground cavern on the Aegean Island of Melos. She later was transported to France where King Louis VXIII gave the decree that she would not be touched by any other sculptor for repairs so as not to lose the beauty she already portrays. The original can be seen today in the famous Louvre Museum in Paris.
